In the last weekend of November and the first 2 weekends of December, the Gashouder in Amsterdam is transformed into a cozy large terrace with plenty of choice of tasty drinks and snacks and of course cozy music. It’s a party to walk around here and enjoy the conviviality in beautiful Amsterdam! I’ve been there with friends and we enjoyed a very pleasant evening!
The terraces
At the Amsterdam Winter Terrace, young and old can enjoy the best food and drink from Amsterdam under one roof and fun activities. Sit down at one of the bistro tables with your snacks or hit the dance floor with your drink. Each year it varies which catering establishments are present at the Winter Terrace, but you can actually always enjoy the tastiest bites from BAUT, the dishes from Brasserie van Dam, and much more deliciousness such as oysters, cocktails, and fries.
In addition, it is possible to book a Chef’s Table in the Leidingshuisje. Here you can enjoy a private 9-course dinner with the finest wines. This is ideal for a company party, birthday, or just because. After dinner, you can join the party in the Gashouder together.
Furthermore, you can enjoy fun activities. Children can learn to bake poffertjes themselves, do crafts at the crafting table, and play games with the whole family. For the youth and adults, there are fun board games, karaoke, silent disco, and delicious cocktails.
The Winter Terraces Festival in Amsterdam is a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience the unique atmosphere of the Dutch capital in winter. It combines culinary delights, cultural activities, and conviviality in an enchanting winter setting, making it the perfect destination for a day out with family or friends.
The ultimate Christmas experience in Amsterdam
The Amsterdam Winter Paradise promises an unforgettable experience with its blend of traditional winter activities and unique attractions. Whether it’s ice skating under a blanket of lights, enjoying the view from the Ferris wheel, or feeling the thrill on the mega swing, the event offers something for everyone. The combination of festive activities, sustainable practices, and inclusive facilities makes it an ideal holiday destination for English tourists seeking a blend of fun, culture, and environmental consciousness.
How do I get to the Amsterdam Winter terrace?
The Gashouder is easily accessible by all means of transport. The bicycle is actually the easiest way and you can park it close to the entrance. Coming by car? Then there is the ‘Westergasfabriek’ parking garage nearby where you can park the car. From the parking garage, it’s just a few minutes’ walk to the entrance of the Gashouder. It is also possible to park on the street in the area. Please note that this is paid parking in Amsterdam. In the parking garage, it costs about €4.00 per hour.
Furthermore, the Gashouder is also easily accessible by public transport. From Amsterdam Central Station, you can take the bus or tram to the Gashouder. The nearest stop is the ‘Van Hallstraat’ stop. For the most current times and routes, you can use www.9292ov.nl.
